SRM Grading System (10-Point Scale)
SRM University uses a 10-point grading system. The grade points are awarded based on the percentage of marks obtained by the student:

CGPA Calculation at SRM
The CGPA is calculated using the following formula:
CGPA = Σ (Grade Points × Course Credits) / Σ Total Credits
Where:
- Σ (Grade Points × Course Credits) is the sum of the product of grade points and credits for all courses
- Σ Total Credits is the sum of all credits attempted
Example Calculation
Consider a student with the following courses in a semester:
- Mathematics - Grade A (8.0), Credits 4
- Physics - Grade B+ (7.0), Credits 3
- Programming - Grade A+ (9.0), Credits 4
- English - Grade B (6.0), Credits 2
Calculation:
Total Points = (8×4) + (7×3) + (9×4) + (6×2) = 32 + 21 + 36 + 12 = 101
Total Credits = 4 + 3 + 4 + 2 = 13
Semester GPA = 101 ÷ 13 = 7.77
Important: If you have a previous CGPA, the cumulative CGPA is calculated by combining all semester results:
Cumulative CGPA = (Previous CGPA × Previous Credits + Current GPA × Current Credits) / (Previous Credits + Current Credits)
